One supermagnete attracts the "magnetic metals",generally speaking, the magnetic metals are Nickel, Cobalt and Iron ect. And it can attract iron much stronger than any other metals.Magnet also attract other supermagnetes, it all depends on which way do they  face each other, permanent magnets usually have some plastic plate between them.
   There is a type of dark-gray fragile magnet called “ferrite magnet”, which has iron, oxygen and some other kinds of metals. Ferrite magnets can be magnetic because there is iron in the ferrite magnets.
   Sometimes you can see a soft black or other colorful plastic magnet. This is pretty much iron metal powder and magnetic material mixed into melted plastic. they are melted and then cool down, put into a extruding machine to press as rubber magnet. All of the rubber magnets are dark gray, for the colorful magnet is a PVC or PET paper pasted up it.The paint doesn't matter to magnatism, it just shows up the color.
